THE STORY

I always loved painting and drawing from childhood but did none for many years after leaving school until I married and had children and my husband encouraged me to take it up again.  I went to  evening classes at Art College for 5 years to get back into painting and then finally 11 years ago I joined TATSFIELD ART GROUP (TAG) and have gained a lot more knowledge and have gone from strength to strength

Gulliver, the family pet retriever, was the inspiration to get me back to painting seriously.  Since then I have painted friend’s pets, including a guinea pig, family pets and other animals and enjoyed bringing out the personalities on canvas.

I also love painting sunsets with all the fantastic colours the sun throws out as it disappears over the horizon together with landscapes capturing the beauty of our countryside at different times of the year.

TYPES OF PAINTINGS

MEDIUMS USED

ACRYLIC is a wet medium (which dries very quickly) and the painting is built up in layers.  The finished painting will take a couple of days to completely dry.  If framing glass can be used to cover the painting but it is not necessary.

PASTEL is a dry medium and can be blended and built up in layers so the finished painting is available immediately upon completion.  Pastel paintings should be framed behind glass - but the glass should not touch the painting as it will smudge.  Frames usually have a slight gap in the wood between where the painting fits in between the glass.

PET PORTRAITS AND ANIMALS -   there is a choice of Acrylic or Pastel.   Acrylic paintings are carried out on good quality canvas board and most types of frames can be used for this, or box canvas 18/38mm deep made with stretched cotton and the sides will also be painted so there is no need for the extra expense of framing - unless of course you choose to do so upon receipt of the painting.

Pastel paintings are carried out on Colourfix paper and will be supplied with a 2” mount and backed to fit a standard frame.

LANDSCAPES AND SUNSETS  -   again there is a choice of Acrylic  or Pastel - as above.
